A while back, Jon and I watched "Mortified Nation" on Netflix. It's a hilarious documentary in which the grass-roots group, Mortified Nation, coaches people to select passages from their middle or high school diaries to share with a live audience. Oh, the horror.
There are live shows all over the country, so I signed up for the email list to find out when the show would be in Boston. As luck would have it, there was a Valentine's Day show in Cambridge.
We went to the show and it was amazing. There were 6 readers--one who read her love letters to Michael Jackson, one who sang his teen angst love songs, (favorite line: "Lies, lies, the only one you're hurting is yourself"), and one who read his totally made-up, fictional stories about his girlfriend's tragic death, (he was clear that she's alive and well).
Highly recommend these shows! And the podcasts!
