Plans & Parties | Bachelorette Planning!

One of my very best friends is getting married in just a few months, and I get to help plan the bachelorette party! She gave me the location, Hyannis, and told me where we are staying, and the rest was up to me. A few friends had suggestions that I incorporated and I was lucky to do the planning with another great friend. Here are some tips I compiled as I went.

Tips for Planning
  1. Think about your bride--what does she like? What is going to be fun for her? Sure, some brides want the stereotypical party with drinking and dancing, but others may want a relaxing girls' weekend.
  2. Don't over-schedule--if there is a medium to large group of people, remember it takes time to mobilize people. No one will want to move too quickly through the weekend, so don't plan too many activities.
  3. DO make some plans, though--it is always difficult for large groups to make decisions, so make a few decisions before the weekend. This means choosing restaurants and choosing some of the events. Leave a few blocks of time unscheduled so people can make choices, but lay the basic outline for the weekend.
  4. Create a fun hashtag--it's really fun to get people on board for a themed weekend. I had a lot of fun branding the weekend. Order shirts or sunglasses or something that fits the theme of the weekend!
  5. If you don't know the area well, Google is your best friend!
  6. Stock up on snacks and drinks beforehand. It keeps the cost down for the weekend if you spend some time in the apartment/house snacking and/or drinking.
Details for this party:

I had a lot of fun working on the invitation which I sent out to all of the invitees, (the list was provided by the bride!). We had a nautical theme since we were going to be on Cape Cod, so I used the image of the boat in a lot of the materials. Here's what I created, (the invitation, and the label for champagne!):

I came up with an itinerary by googling what was fun in the area, and by thinking about what the bride would want to do. My goal for this weekend was to create a mix of relaxation and fun. We went to a brewery for beer tasting, we did yoga one morning, and we had some relaxing beach time. We spent one night in the house when we played games and made dinner, and we had one night out to dance!

There were 9 of us on the trip, and we all ordered these t-shirts. We all wore them to yoga, and it made for some great photos!

And finally, we did a scavenger hunt the night we went out. Made for a really fun time!

We all had a blast, and I loved the planning almost as much as the actual weekend.
