Plans | Trip to Cabo and Travel Tips

Months ago, Jon and I were looking forward to the holidays and started making plans. It can feel challenging since 2 coasts are involved, but he's coming out to California pretty soon! We were looking for a fun getaway and scoured travel sites for a cheap destination. We settled on Cabo, a short flight from San Diego.

Here are some of my travel tips when looking to book a trip!
  1. If you're flexible on destination, use travel apps! Here are a few of my favorites
    1. Hipmunk--The app shows the cheapest destinations for any given weekend
    2. Hopper--Shows reports about when is the best time to book flights, you can also set alerts for when your preferred route is the cheapest
    3. Skyscanner--compares flights
  2.  Do your research to find a great place to stay!
    1. I use google maps a lot when booking places to stay to make sure I'm staying close to town.
    2. Air BnB is awesome. Look for places with LOTS of great reviews. Some people seem to be buying properties for the sole purpose of renting them out, so this is a business for them.
    3. Groupon or similar sites can have some great deals on hotels. Jon and I have actually picked a destination before based on a good hotel deal on Groupon!
  3. Travel folder! My dad taught me to make a travel folder of all of the important info. I like printing out all of the confirmations and carrying the hard copies with me. We are so reliant on our phones, but it's nice to have a back up. I have all of the booking numbers and receipts and I like to print out maps. Even if I don't end up using half of the materials I print, it's a good security blanket.
  4. Search for pre-made itineraries. I googled "3 days in Cabo" to find itineraries that were already on the web. It can also be helfpul to google "24 hours in _____" since that usually gives you the can't-miss highlights. Once I find a few itineraries, I pick and choose the things that most interest me. I want to make sure I'm not missing anything when I visit places, and this is a good way to compare lots of perspectives.
 Happy travels !
