Products | Blue Apron

Jon and I essentially live in a micro apartment, and we constructed a mini kitchen with hot plates, a refrigerator and a microwave. Given that we started with nothing, it's pretty impressive. We are slightly limited when it comes to cooking, but I had been hearing such great things about Blue Apron so I decided to give it a try a while back.

I absolutely loved it! The meals realistically take about 35-45 minutes to make, but everything arrives pre-packaged and portioned out. The most prep you'll have to do is some chopping. There are awesome colorful step-by-step instructions about how to make the meal. Each meal is like a mini cooking class--you learn tons of new techniques, and you're also exposed to new ingredients.

About the process: you select which week you want the food delivered online. There are 6 options and you select the three meals you want. There are two portions of each. The meals show up in a refrigerated box on the delivery day.

This was from our first box of food--chili blackened cod with red rice salad, avocado, pickled onions, and epazote (a new ingredient for us!).

Jon and I have been giving Blue Apron as a gift to many of our loved ones, and I'm sharing some photos from when my parents tried (and also loved) it! This meal even made my dad a kale convert!

I 100% recommend this service. (Same goes for the service "Plated"). The only reason why I don't use this service every week is that it comes out to $10 per meal, (or $60 for the 6 meals), which is just beyond what I want to be spending given that you can grocery shop for less, but it's a fun splurge and definitely worth a try to spice up your cooking.

(Side note--there ALWAYS seem to be groupons/deals for starting Blue Apron, so if I convinced you to try it, don't pay full price your first time!).
