Places | A Long Weekend in Nashville

Nashville was a fun, friendly, affordable city. Jon and I spent 3 full days and one evening in Nashville and it felt like the perfect amount of time to load up on good food, great music, and good beer. Check out our itinerary below:

Friday Night

6:00pm --Dinner at Acme Feed and Seed: Great restaurant where you order when you get in the building and you can then bring the food to whichever level you want (4 stories, top story is a rooftop bar!).  There was live music, and TONS of bachelorette parties!

7:30pm-10pm--Out at bars on Broadway Street, the main drag. Favorite bar was Robert's Western World. No cover charge, but make sure you have some small bills since they send the tip jar around every hour. Throw in a few bucks each hour--the music is totally amazing.

Saturday
9:00am Breakfast at the Sky Blue Cafe--had AMAZING French toast/pancake layered dish with nutella. I was sold on the place from the moment we sat down since each table had a box of Trivial Pursuit cards!

11:00am Tour Ryman Auditorium--you learn a lot about the history of the building which was once the home of the Grand Ole Opry (a live radio show). The Ryman Auditorium has hosted some incredible performers, and the backstage tour gives you a lot of history.

12:00pm Walk to Country Music Hall of Fame (you can see the famous people stars, kind of like in Hollywood) and Hatch Show Print (a printing press, these posters are ALL over the city!)

1:00pm Lunch at Hattie B's (LONG LINE!)--This place is famous for the "hot chicken." The line was super long, we waited about an hour, but it was worth the experience. We were warned that it was REALLY hot, so I went with mild, but I probably could have bumped up to medium.

3:00-5:30 Brewery Crawl--Yazoo, Jackalope, TN Brew Works, Czann's
These breweries were all about 5 minutes from each other (if you follow the order above). Jon and I got flights at most of the places, and the beers were all amazing! I think our favorite was Yazoo if we had to pick just one.

6:00 Dinner and a show at The Listening Room (reserved tickets ahead of time). There were 4 different artists and they each took turns playing songs. There was one headliner, but each artist had equal playing time. It was wonderful!

8:00pm Out at bars and line dancing lesson at Wildhorse Saloon

Sunday
9:00am Breakfast at the Pancake Pantry (LONG LINE!)--so many amazing options of pancakes, I got sweet potato with a delicious vanilla maple syrup

Walked through historic Belmont/Hilsboro--gorgeous houses and a quaint area. I want to live in the house below someday!

11:00am Coffee at the Frothy Monkey, shopping an cute shops, and a picture in front of the iconic "I believe in Nashville" wall mural

Popsicles at Las Paletas, an awesome little shop run by two sisters.

Drove around and explored a little

1:30pm Lunch at Bartaco--this was our FAVORITE meal of the trip, we got the platter for two and enjoyed tamales, tacos and the most delicious guacamole. And the CORN was sooooo good!

3:00pm Drove to see the Parthenon--Cheap entry, and pretty cool to go inside. There is a large statue in gold of Athena.

Rested for a little while!

5:30pm Beer at Hops and Crafts
6:30pm Station Inn Show at 7pm (line up at 6:30pm)--the birthplace of bluegrass. It was basically a whole bunch of older musicians (about 15 of them) getting together to jam. Nothing fancy, but we enjoyed a beer and listened to the music.

Dinner at Two Bits (bar with games)

Monday
9:30am Breakfast at Loveless Cafe (30 minute drive)--this is a bit of a hike from downtown Nashville and you'd need a car to get there, but it was so worth it. Endless biscuits, cheesy grits, hashbrown casserole, and tons of breakfast meats. I left there feeling like a biscuit myself!

11:00am Walk around and have coffee at Opryland Hotel--this is also a bit of a drive from downtown Nashville but it was really cool to walk around! It's kind of like a greenhouse in a hotel.

1:00pm Pinewood Social for lunch--this is a cool hangout space that is designed for people to just chill. You can eat, grab coffee, do work, go outside to play lawn games, bowl (although it's pretty expensive), and there are even two small pools! We had lunch here which was decent.

4:00 Beers at Tailgate Brewery--this was the best brewery of the bunch that we went to. There was an amazing nitro peanut butter stout, and I tried the horchata stout. There was also a happy hour special so we enjoyed two pizzas half price. Delicious! And yes, we played Battleship!

That was it for our trip, and as I said earlier, we definitely got our fill of great food and great music. We will definitely be back!
